Hoi An to Hanoi Destination Reviews

JT
Booked a sleeper bus from Hoi An (6pm) -> Hanoi (8am). It was actually a minivan from Hoi An to Da Nang (everyone was confused when the minivan showed up instead of a sleeper bus), then a bus from Da Nang to Hanoi. The minivan came more than an hour late. We were only informed of the late departure after reaching the pickup point. The sleeper bus itself was very bumpy and had constant honking. Beds were somewhat narrow and short, but otherwise comfortable. Wifi didn't work. We arrived in Hanoi 45min late. Overall, it was bearable if you are relatively small-built, not time-sensitive, good at sleeping with some noise on bumpy rides, not too susceptible to motion sickness, and okay with taking a minivan before the sleeper bus.

The Bus itself is quite comfortable. You can stretch, though I think beeing taller then 1.8m could decrease the comfort. The Bus was cleened beforehand. We arrived 2 hours early. Bear that in mind. There are designated seats that are not be changed. At first I didnt know and the driver yelled at me in Vietnamese not even willing to tell me via translator. He yelled at me two more times for leaving my seat (??) and for not immediately putting my shoes in a provided bag, although I was about to do so. Zero stars for him.

It’s just ok, you get curtains but no TV, no bottle of water, staff were ok - came round at every stop to let you know.. toilets stank, not cleaned the whole 17 hours we was on there. I did see some broke curtains but not on my bed

Comfortable and on time. We had to changed the bus 2 times and if you’re asleep, they will tell you directly to wake up and get out. Overall for the price, it’s still worth it.

The experience from Hoi An to Danang was great, we were spoiled with not only one, but two luxury vehicles. However, at no point were we given any information on, what would happen, after they dropped us off on a seemingly random location. The bus to Hanoi didnt leave until one and a half hour later, and we had no idea. We werent aware, that the operators only performance was the one from Hoi An to Danang (which only made up about 5% of the trip in total) and that the rest of the trip was just plopped randomly into the package deal? This is not a critique of the operator, who got us to Danang, but more of the overall planning of the trip - not sure who is responsible.

Bus smelt horrible like pee the whole ride. Everytime someone opened the door for the toilet we would almost puke. Drove superfast to reach Hanoi on time, so we were almost falling out of our seats. Really dirty as well, but didnt Expect else.

All in all ok. I drove from Hoi An to Hanoi with Queen Cafe VIP (not the organisation I actually booked but they told me it is the right bus). Keep in mind if you book with grouptours that there are two different pick up points listed (once the coordinates and once the written adress - the right one is the written adress, the ticket office). The toilets where quite smelly and the driver smoked on the drive which is a big con. Also they randomly picked up people and packages along the way, which was very time consuming. The beds are quite comfy for that price, better than a flight.
